Every villain has a rival. (To be fair every hero also has a rival depending on the hero or the villain.)
How do you get rid of those pesky, pesky rivals?
There are so many methods. What best fits your needs and what best fits your story? Let’s talk about some of both the simple and complex ways to make sure that those who seek to take you down do not live happy lives.
Some of it depends on you, of course. Batman’s list of foes is so legendarily long that they can’t be contained, even in a vast and sprawling asylum. Or you might be Dr. Horrible, with just one nemesis. Perhaps there’s someone in your way. Perhaps there’s someone who consistently foils your schemes. Perhaps you simply feel that if your competitor goes away, your business will boom.
This can be a sensitive subject for those who have been deposed or removed themselves, particularly if it was done in a manner unbefitting the rules of engagement of a civilized society, but it’s an important thing to think about. Poison? Seduction to your side? Change in your own views or goals, so that you’re no longer in opposition to that person? How do you find the right style of villainous rival removal?
